DVTD WAAVP-AN Scholarship Programme 2026
Specialised Training in Veterinary Parasitology and Primary Animal Health Care
The Department of Veterinary Tropical Diseases (DVTD) at the University of Pretoria is offering fully funded WAAVP-AN scholarship opportunities to professionals working in veterinary parasitology laboratories across Africa.
This programme aims to build capacity in diagnostic laboratory techniques, field-based animal health care, and livestock production with a focus on key areas of veterinary protozoology, ectoparasitology, and helminthology. The training is designed to support continuing education, professional development, and the strengthening of parasitology networks in Africa.

2nd Call for WAAVP-AN Innovations & Capacity Building Grants
The World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology Africa Network (WAAVP-AN) is an umbrella network working towards the control of parasitic diseases of animals, and the advancement of the practice of veterinary parasitology on the continent of Africa. The support under this funding aims for an improved control of veterinary parasites under but not limited to the following thematic areas: Socio-economic impacts of veterinary parasite; Capacity building in veterinary parasitology; and Epidemiology, distribution and abundance of animal parasites. The maximum support under this grant will be US$75,000 and lead applicant institutions/organizations must be legally recognized and based in Africa. Projects demonstrating cross-border collaboration will be given priority.

Projects demonstrating cross-border collaboration will be given priority.
