General Eligibility

Only registered members of the WAAVP-AN, and who must be African citizens and African-based professionals working in the field of veterinary parasitology for a legally recognized African-based institution (public or private) will be eligible to apply as lead applicants for WAAVP-AN grants. We encourage multi-boundary collaborations and gender inclusiveness where the project team shall comprise of at least two applicants (1 lead applicant and 1 co-applicant). Collaborations between different African countries will be given priority. African applicants from international institutions including the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Centres are not eligible as lead applicants but are eligible as co-applicants or collaborating organizations.

The funding will be spread out in four years with an approximate annual grant of $750,000 targeting experts and early career professionals in the field of veterinary parasitology in African-based institutions. The annual grants will support various project sizes ranging from $25,000 to $200,000, and will support both research and capacity building activities. Annual calls will be announced around mid-year.
