About Us

An engaged community of experts in Veterinary Parasitology

The World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology African Network (WAAVP-AN) is an umbrella network of people and institutions working towards the better control of parasitic diseases of animals, advances in research and training, and the practice of veterinary parasitology, improved animal welfare and sustainable livestock production on the African continent. WAAVP-AN aims to facilitate a reduction in the economic and health impact of parasites of animals, including parasitic zoonoses, and to establish a framework to train and retain the human resources that underpin long-term sustained parasite control efforts on the continent especially now in the context of climate change.

Vision

We aspire to be a network that shall be key in the control on animal parasites on the
African continent through generation and dissemination of knowledge on animal
parasites, supporting and promoting collaborative research on veterinary parasites,
and providing policy recommendations on control of animal parasites.

Mission

We are a network that promotes best practices for the management of animal parasites in
Africa.

Objectives

The World Association for Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology- African Network (WAAVP-AN) is a brand-new new Pan- African initiative aimed at

(1) Filling the knowledge gaps on critical African veterinary parasites.

(2) Strengthening scientific and technical communication and networking on veterinary parasitology in Africa.

(3) Providing expert recommendations on topics relevant to veterinary parasitology in Africa.
